Journaling June - Day 10 & 11
Journaling June
Day 10 & 11 A computer motherboard arrived from ebay and after testing it to confirming it was working, and preparing to just list it straight back onto ebay, now with a CPU, cooler, and RAM installed, I realised it had actually arrived lacking the CPU cooler mounting backplate thing that was shown in the original listing, so... after checking the packaging, I politely messaged the seller... and they apologised for their mistake and promptly refunded me... now I feel guilty about listing it straight back on ebay; I might leave it until next week. I have just paid for another motherboard that was being sold cheap; the seller stating that they hadn't used it for a few years but not stating it is faulty, so we shall see what happens here. It should be worth reselling either way. Speaking of faulty computer parts, I finally sorted out the page on the Mac I fixed recently; since the project, and its log, escalated it had become quite a muddle, so I employed ChatGPT to help me sort it out. It was amusing to have it point of any parts in the project where I had consulted ChatGPT as it said that it probably wasn't best to state the way that I had done, like hint at "take this with a pinch of salt but..." I also employed some code that keeps the menu bar on the left on the screen while the visitor scrolls; that was simple to implement and I'm pleased with how it functions. I got out on my bike yesterday for a short ride round the block, and sat outside to read a chapter of book, but today, being an actual accurate weather forecast day, is raining. And speaking of ChatGPT, I re-recorded a vlog I attempted to record a few days ago; it involved getting the "script" on the screen of my phone with its camera recording too, and connected to my bluetooth keyboard so I could scroll. It worked out ok but now I have the fun task of editing the whole thing... I had another round of playing with my Amstrad Radio, listening to Air Traffic Control chatter and trying to find the corresponding aircraft on FlightRadar24. I also found some repeating Morse code and asked ChatGPT to suggest what dot dot dash dash dash pause dash dash meant... It suggested IOM, standing for Isle of Man, and thus I'd picked up a beacon there. Speaking of phone apps, I had another bunch of apps appear following that update I did earlier in the week... grr. It's all been rubbish, like a weather app; I have one of those, an Office app; I have that, a game; I don't play those... I tidied my desk, but now my floor is more of a mess... Oh I heard word of a couple of car shows, one that I need to keep a note of for next year, and one for later this year that I have purchased a ticket for.. the one I missed last year because my car didn't want to go, and also missed earlier this year because I didn't hear about it in time. It's one I need to think about sleeping arrangements for; when I did get to it a couple of years ago I paid to stay at a camp site, but I'm tempted to just find somewhere to park up and rough it for a night. |
