Journaling June
31st May 2026

I feel like May has been somewhat scattered for me and I've been failing to 'crack on with things' (I go through 'phases' of this). In addition to this, and likely somewhat related, I've found myself binge-scrolling on ebay; looking for bargains and things I might tinker with and ultimately resell (which is just how the Retro Tech section started). Just prior to this I'd had a couple of good achievements, namely I got my car up and running and the Apple Mac, both of which had taken me months, and both of which need their website sections updating.

I therefore started to think about the month ahead and how I might retrain my focus. 'Journaling June' seemed to have a good ring to it and I took this opportunity to put some fresh batteries in my trusty AlphaSmart 3000 (something that I also created a section for many moons ago) and I started putting some thoughts together.

Speaking of moons. I sometimes wonder if the phases of the moon and the constellation it's in has any bearing on focus or a lack thereof.

Anyway, I just wanted to 'put this out there' that for June I'm going to be making a concerted effort to focus on a couple of areas that need my attention, namely, various car-related tasks that still need doing, and the managing of my hoarding of stuff. All of this stuff could involve some form of update or documentation on this here website, although sometimes I feel like doing that is yet another avoidance tactic.

This is what I typed into my AlphaSmart a couple of days ago:

Journaling June
================
It's May 29th (2026) and therefore June is almost upon us/me. I'm proposing to myself that I journal daily for the month ahead.

Initially I was thinking how I should focus myself and implement improvements (as I often intend to do) for the month ahead; how I might get stuff done and avoid wasted time online; Journaling June came to mind as it has a good ring to it.

Things I need/want to do: (which I intend to journal about each day)
----------------------------------
-Languages; I'm too passive here and need to focus more on actually learning and progressing. I need to do a schedule for which language to focus on each day and produce some words/phrases to have 'floating around' to learn each day.

-Jog/Yoga; I'm very much up-and-down with this but it needs to be implemented; I will document which I do each day.

-Coffee & Nuts: Here I can begin a brief period of journaling for the day ahead, since I mostly sit outside.

-Cycling: For a number of years now (since the Big-C) it has been a constant battle to up my miles. For this month I will document my intended miles/route or site to visit to provide additional focus.

-Coffee & Read: Which book am I reading? What was the chapter about or points of interest to research?

-Back to work (Fix & List): I have a hoard of things I'm supposed to be fixing up and listing on ebay. I will document this and focus my efforts for at least and hour.

-Designated lunch break: Watch some 'tube. Make notes and document; stop just absorbing.

-Fix the car: The car needs attention and there is a car show to get to next month. Without daily focus I'm just routinely putting things off. Instead I need to knuckle down; documenting things along the way will surely help.

-Evening meal, with some more 'tube time?

-Evening time. I rarely make it to this point in the day with something constructive still in swing. I generally find myself just absorbing and consuming online stuff. I want to change this. I could perhaps use this time to round up the day's stuff into content of my own; an upload to Neocities, edit a vlog I may have recorded footage for earlier in the day. Ideally, to assist myself in this regard, I may need to go offline and just have the content ready to upload the next day.

-Sunset. This is the ideal time for me to go to bed. How about a month in the tent?

Here's Day 1
