  Create a Site Mirror...

[17 January 2026]

Neocities is a great place for diving into the hobby of creating your own personal website. Over time, though, you might consider: "What if Neocities disappears or my website is removed?"

Creating a mirror of your website is therefore the recommendation, and in a nutshell, that's what a mirror site is.

Step 1: Create and work on your site offline.
By doing this you always have a copy of your work.
You can then upload the pages, images, and other files associate with your website to other locations and servers.

Step 2: Pick another service.

I have used both FC2 and Nekoweb for hosting mirrors (of sorts*):

Step 3: Keep the mirror up to date.
When you make changes to your main site, you'll need to remember to keep the mirrors up to date with those same changes.

Step 4: Provide links to your mirrors.
By linking between your sites, such as by including buttons on the homepage (as I do), you not only inform your visitors, but you let the search engines know that your mirrors exist.

Final Note:
I decided that maintaining a dedicated mirror, or two, was too much work when I just like to get updates out onto Neocities. Therefore, my mirrors are cut-down versions of my site, but can be brought into full effect if at any time I feel the need.
