[May 2024] I was handed this Vtech Kiddizoom camera to test and I had some fun going through all of the various options, there's even games to play on it.
It turns out there are a variety of these Vtech cameras but they seem to fall into two variants: 2MP or 5MP, although they can vary further with different colour schemes. This one was the earlier 2MP version (according to the text surrounding the lens and it takes 1600 x 1200 pictures). The camera can be rotated into selfie mode. It can also record 320 x 240 .avi video files and record .wav audio files. It's requires 4 x AA batteries (two for each "handle") and an SD card. While the design is expectedly rugged this example did have a screen issue in the form of a vertical line running down one part (perhaps from being dropped heavily at some point), but this was easy to ignore. Since there are various "filters" to choose from (many being image overlays, but some are more dynamic), I thought I would take some pictures with them... because, what's more hilarious than an adult playing around with a kid's toy?!
I then created some blank pictures with the filters to share the images below in case anyone wants to use them, it's should be fairly easy to clear out the grey areas using something like GIMP (sorry it's not a perfectly flat colour but that's the best I could do): |
