Day 14,
Today I began by opening some cards with candles on, 12 instead of 42, but close enough. I then took myself off out for breakfast. Following that I bought some chips to go with lasagne later, and I then rode my bike for a further hour.

While I was out I left my computer to record the second series of The Man in the High Castle, streaming from Amazon Prime of which I have a soon-to-expire free trial.

This series is based on a book of the same title by Philip K. Dick, the author of 'Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?' which would later become the film Blade Runner. It's quite a fascinating series based around a somewhat dystopic alternative timeline where the Nazis beat the 'allies' in WWII and joined forces with the Japanese to control the USA, each taking a side, east and west, with a 'Neutral Zone' down the middle.

The visuals in the series do a good job and present the audience with a variety of treats, including what appears to be an alternative to Concord (above).

I did think about whether I should have read the book first, but this series was the only thing I was drawn to watch with my Prime trial, so I'll read the book later.

I've had an interest in the WWII years since being a school lad and I have since then pondered some "what-ifs" regarding this time period. Over recent years I've come to learn that the Nazis were never actually wiped out as the history books might have lead me to believe, they exist in a similar manner as to they did in the past, but seemingly also as a mindset. Also, if one goes as far as believing some "conspiracy theorists", they are even behind such things as UFOs, to the reason for the wars in Ukraine et al. Such ideas have made me question a lot, such as "democracy" being just an illusion when there is evidence we're ruled by dictatorship.
