24, Here are this year's mince pies:
The pastry was a little problematic this year; I made it in
two batches and one seemed to need more egg, of which I refused
to crack another to add more, and therefore resulted in the
pastry having to be thicker to hold together. But I have not
tried one yet so they might be fine.
I also used a jar of mince meat which I'd purchased at a
reduced price at the end of last Christmas and found it dries
out somewhat, which is no bad thing, since I lubricated it a day
before use with a good slosh of brandy.
Also, I was quite pleased how my quantities, which I have
refined over the years resulted in a perfect balance of pastry
and mincemeat, with none of either left over.
They shall be subjected on family tomorrow.
