Day
23, After more than two weeks I finally got my internet
connection repaired*. Getting this advent calendar updated each
day had become more and more of a challenge with the connection
dropping out after a minute and having to re-establish the
connection. I now just need to seek compensation from my
provider...
*I say all this but the wind is calm now, so fingers are
crossed that it is actually repaired.
Remarkably my connection connected enough so that my
computers participating in
Einstein@home could keep enough work units flowing and thus
add a little bit of warmth to my home. All systems have been
pretty stable with only a power supply failing recently for
which I had a suitable spare to swap in.
Here's how my my output has climbed recently, since I started
powering things on back in November:
Napple |
211k |
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 |
CrossFireX* |
188k |
Nvidia GeForce GTX 780 |
Gamemax |
126k |
Nvidia GeForce GTX 760 |
Nolan |
124k |
Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 |
2600K |
75k** |
2 x AMD Radeon HD 6950 |
Phenom |
3k |
AMD Phenom II X6 (CPU) |
i5 |
1k** |
|
*CrossFireX used to have the two Radeon HD 6950s in, hence
the name.
**2600K is only on during the day, so its score is around
half of its potential, although Radeon HDs don't perform as well
as Nvidia equivalents, I think due to how the computing is
programmed and geared more towards Nvidia GPUs for the project.
But they keep my bedroom warm... i5 is also only a part-time
contributor.
I'm in team GPUUG and my current score places me at 12th...
out of 15. It's only a small team but one of the best
performers. In the UK leaderboard I'm now hovering around
4th/5th according to recent credit, but my total score puts me
in the top 70 because I don't participate all year round. After
a few more months I'll power things down again, but with a bit
of luck I might have climbed into the top 50 by then.
In all, this is costing me close to 200kwh of electricity per
week...
